On average, women have significantly less retirement savings than men. In 1997, median income among elderly unmarried women was $11,161, compared with $14,769 for elderly unmarried men and $29,278 for elderly married couples.


If your credit card balance keeps inching upward, consider this. A balance of just $5,000 at 15% will cost you $415 in interest if you manage to pay it off within a year.


Fifty-three percent of women are not covered by a pension compared to only 22 percent of men.


Women still live longer than men. Women who reached the age of 65 in the year 2000 are expected to live, on average, an additional 19.2 years compared with 15.8 years for men.


Women are starting new companies at twice the rate of men, according to the National Foundation for Women Business Owners.


Fixing up your house to sell? The National Association of Realtors reports that a new exterior paint job really helps. A professionally painted exterior costs an average of $3,250 and recoups 81% of that cost in resale value.
